Increasing success for the grechetto of Agricola Goretti
Since some years, the “Arringatore”, the top-of-the-range red wine (based on sangiovese) of the Goretti estate, obtained regularly prices, medals and favourable articles in the specialized press (2 “bicchieri” in the Gambero rosso and an A+ quotation in the Belgian newspaper De Standaard). Now the grechetto seems to have been discovered too. This refreshing and aromatic white wine based on the vine of the same name has been particularly appreciated by the press recently.
Some quotations: “Light yellow colour with mineral notes and aromas of fresh pear. Full in the mouth, but the wine requires a little patience before it shows its subtle floral flavours. A very beautiful freshness and a light bitterness which is very characteristic of this type of vine and which brings the balance” (Marc Vanhellemont in In Vino Veritas) “ We particularly liked the “grechetto”, a very fresh and expressive white wine, with the accents of citrus and almonds and with a surprising bitterness in the aftertaste. “A real grechetto”, affirms the son of the Gorettis.” (Alain Bloeykens in Vino Magazine of March 2002, who also noticed that the estate invested in the most modern installations). “Never heard about the grechetto? This is the wine in the mood in Umbria. The Goretti family exploits in the heart of Umbria a modern “cantina”. The grechetto is one of their specialities. “Don’t miss the 2001 vintage”, says the youngest son. “We never made a better
grechetto!” (De Gentenaar, 16-11-2002) This vivid and delicate wine is still affordable: no surprise if the sales are increasing. Highly recommended!
